Font issue

Post by MDHunt »

I haven't used my program in several months due to a LONG hiking trip.
When I tried to make updates to a project that I have already completed, I get an error message stating:
The font originally used for the text being edited is not available on this system.
Calvert MT Pro Bold
The default font will be used instead
I have updated my Aspire to the latest version, and I am confused.
Is anyone else having the same issue?
Thanks

You are getting the message because the font you are trying to use isn't on your computer. It does not have anything to do with an Aspire update. Select your text then select the text tool and use the font pull-down and you will probably see that is not listed. Windows controls most of the fonts and Aspire just uses them. If you still want to use the same font you will have to reinstall it in Windows.

Gotcha, I'll check and see if I can reinstall it.

If you are asking whether or not this has ever happen to me, well, sort of. I was an I.T. Systems Administrator for the University of Arizona before I retired.

Just to add to what Steve has said, all Vectric software uses fonts installed in the windows font folder, if you want to add fonts then add them to the windows font folder, the only fonts that come with the software are the single line fonts & these can not be deleted or added to (unfortunately   )

Included also are the Vertical Fonts (the ones with the @ symbol in their name)

Those are standard Windows fonts as well as far as I'm aware. They're definitely on computers I have that have never had Vectric software installed. I think it's just that most software doesn't show them in the vertical mode as that's more typically used with different language settings.

Hi Adrian,

Interesting...I just spent a half-hour testing...

They don't show up in my Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW, MicroSoft Word, PowerPoint, NotePad or WordPad, nor any of my photo/bitmap editors. I only see them listed as available in the Vectric software.

What other software do you have that those @ vertical fonts actually show up? (Now you've made me curious!)

Look for the font name without the @. They are all East Asian language fonts which display text vertically for their language characters.

That's what I mean by most software doesn't display them the way Vectric does with the @ but they are there.
