Preview vs programming

Post by jmoyer »

On my project, I have done a pocket area to a depth of 0.21
After that is cut, I have added a vcarve 60 degree with a flat depth of 0.31, with Z0 at the original surface, expecting my bit to cut 0.10 into the new surface.
When I calculate and look at the 3D preview and put my cursor on the deepest area, the display says it is more than 0.41. And when I roll the preview, it does look pretty deep.
What could I be doing wrong?
Thanks

If you can post your file it would be easier to tell what is wrong. Without it I'd look at the start depth you might have set for the VCarve toolpath. Total depth of a cut will be start depth plus cut depth below where your surface Z=0 is.

Thank you. I had closed the file last night. Just now when I went back and re-ran it, so that I could send it with this reply, the preview was just the way it was supposed to be!! Ta Da! Wish I knew what I had in there extra!
So if I need to send other questions, which I most certainly will!, do I attach the file using the picture icon above?
