Trying some corian

Post by Rcnewcomb »

Found some samples of 1/2” corian on eBay. I’m trying some 3D work. The material is 7x9

+1 Randall :)
Only carved once when a visitor brought some with him, made a key fob "Moose scene 5" for him.
Held Tiny detail very well!!
Show pics when done...I only had engraving bit at that time...interested in tiny TBN cut.

Cabinet makers always have sink cutouts that are usually not used. They are not white of course but some are pretty for some uses. There is also 1/4" available online- usually white, works great on the laser as well.

These were straight off the machine. I used a 0.5mm radius tapered ball nose it at 8% step over.

I don’t mind longer machine times since I’m in the shop building acoustic guitars — so I am out there anyway. I’m glad the spindle is quiet. I wish I could say the same for my air compressors.

Very nice, Randall. I love working with Corian and other like plastics. They machine so easily.
I haven't tried doing 3D stuff yet but after seeing your results I will be trying shortly!

Where did you get the Christ artwork, if I may ask. I'd like to make one of those.
Joe

I have a chip on my shoulder....several more in my hair and lots more all over my shop floor.
