Material for a vacuum table

I plan to build this vacuum table. http://cncshark.com/downloads/vacuumtable.pdf. I have some sign foam leftover from a job. Would sign foam be a suitable material for a vacuum table?

No. Look for a Trupan dealer/distributor in your area. Sometimes Home Depot carries it.

When you say sign foam do you mean the actual product sign foam as made by the Smartgroup or some other substrate like foamex??
I know absolutely nothing about the smartgroup product but if you are talking about foamex type substrates (foamed PVC Sheet) then I am not sure it would be something I would use, big differences between various brands & the cheaper it is the more air it seems to contain, makes it lighter but also means you get problems with expansion & contraction with temperature changes
