Roughing path question

Post by kyeakel »

I'm rastering a roughing path in a rectangular area. After each z depth, the machine goes back to each rectangle and cuts around the perimeter. Almost like a cleanup. This seems unnecessary as it is just roughing and will be gone over in the finishing path. Did i miss a setting to turn this off?

Sometimes necessary if the depth needed to rough exceeds the cutting edge length of your router bit. Nothing like seeing your tool flex and get burn-marks on it as it smashes along a high vertical wall that hasn't had a clean-up pass.

The cleanup step only goes over the perimeter of the rectangles not the field. Your point is valid if i was using a very tiny bit. I will keep it in mind if doing fine work.
