Weird Shape Create

I'm trying to create a Butterfly wing with Aspire 10.019.

I created the line vectors by hand tracing a bitmap. I select the outline, then used create shape to create the basic outline. I then select all the inside closed vectors (only). I'm not sure if I want this detail raised or lowered, so I just hit APPLY. I get this weird figure 8 shape created. I checked for duplicate and open vectors, and did 'select all' to see if I left old vectors. What have I got wrong?

You do have an open vector ( see attached picture)
I'm not sure if this caused your problem, but if it's closed I get the end result that you're looking for.

Yup... Thanks. I forgot that Vector Validator doesn't check for open vectors. When it's late at night, just put it away and check it in the morning.
