Laser Attachment on a CNC Router

Post by chris77 »

I know this has nothing to do with Aspire but I am going to throw this out there. I own a Laguna SmartShop 2 and I am interested in buying a laser attachment for it. Does anyone know if this is possible for this machine and if so what supplier to contact?

Thanks,

Chris

I can't help you with your specific question relative to your machine and compatible lasers, but do keep in mind that add-on lasers for CNC machines are pretty much limited to "engraving" type work due to power and unlike a dedicated laser, you need to figure out how you're going to properly ventilate the nasty fumes created when they are burning the material you are processing. It's important.

Just thought I would remind folks who have lasers:

"Thou shalt NOT burn PVC or attempt to cut galvanized metals"

EXTREMELY dangerous.

Poly Vinyl Chloride: produces hydrochloric gas when burned. Will kill you dead in a matter of minutes.

Here is a link with a bunch of other stuff that is bad to be cutting with a laser:
