Gadgets installation

Post by Martin Fisher »

I've downloaded some gadgets but there seems to be no install.exe file! How are these installed in Aspire 9.5?

Hi Martin,

In the Gadgets menu at the top of the toolbar for the program there is a an option called 'Install Gadget'. You then just have to find the downloaded gadget and click 'Open'

Hopefully this helps,
Adam

Martin:

Did you resolve the issue you had in installing a gadget?

I am having the same problem. The files I download for the "Box" gadget does not contain any files with ".vgadget". on the file extension that the Vacarve Pro installer is looking for.

What am I doing wrong?

Try this.

In Aspire, click on "Application data folder" in the File menu. Navigate to the "Gadgets" folder. Open another Windows Explorer window to wherever the files for your gadget are located. Copy the gadget file(s) and then paste them in the Gadgets folder. Close Aspire, then reopen it and click on the "Gadgets" menu dropdown. The gadget should be there.

I believe sometimes IE renames the downloaded file to be .zip, so just rename it back to .vgadget (Don't unzip it). Either use the 'Install Gadget' as suggested or you could drag the file into an open instance of Aspire (like you do to import models).

Note the version as well for the page you're downloading from
For V9.5: https://gadgets.vectric.com/V9/library.html
For V10: https://gadgets.vectric.com/V10/library.html

Hope this helps.
