Vcarve/Engraving And Open Vectors

Post by scovell »

In the older releases of Aspire "I thought" you could use the vcarve tool path to etch lines in the face of wood. When attempting to do this in version 10 I get open vector errors.
Attached is an example. I want to trace the windows and doorways in this simple house. I am using a v-bit.

The v-carve toolpath has always required closed vectors to work. You can use a profile toolpath with a v-bit set to cut on the line and that will work with open vectors. Depends on the look you're going for. The vectors for the doors and windows should work ok with a v-carve toolpath if you close them. The window, for example, is one large closed rectangle with four equal closed rectangles inside it.

Thank you Adrian. Old age must be catching up to me.

Thanks for pointing me in the correct direction.
