My vote would be Victoria BC as well. Beautiful city, on the ocean, close to the mountains and, well the list could go on for a long time. So, I'll just leave it at Victoria, BC

Since my wife is from BC, I travel out there every other year, and it's awesome. And for those in the US, the exchange rate makes it somewhat affordable. But it can be a long trip, and flights are not always that cheap.
great location, though.

Just booked everything. Only rooms at hotel are the ones Vectric reserved. Between the room rate (ridiculous), flight changes (can't even fly out on Delta Sat nite cause they're sold out to Detroit), hotel taxes, cab fare to O'Hare and back, and dinner tabs (Chicago is on the high end), this is going to be one expensive trip. Really thought about not coming at all. Hope you guys got something really really good planned. Whoever decided on Chicago should be shot, hung, quartered, or something worse. You had a good thing going in a place like Vegas. Looked forward to it. Now, not so much. We better not have another upgrade to pay for after this cause the $$ will be spent going to Chicago. Not a happy camper!!!
We're coming in late Thursday and leaving early Saturday evening. Not staying any longer than necessary.

I'm perplexed at how you could book anything when the city and the dates haven't been announced.Just booked everything.

I just cancelled our trip. Didn't ever leave anything in Chicago to go back and look for.
Out of the 6 that attended Vegas in our little "group" last year -- only one is going this year.
You dropped the ball on this one Vectric.

I'll put my 2 cents in about giving priority to those who attended last year and get a weeks head start on all the rest of us.
It stinks!
Maybe this is the way it has always been done, but I don't like it!

I hope the "rumor" is correct that the user Group Meeting is in Chicago. I can understand the feeling that it makes it inconvenient for a number of folks, but "Sin City" has it's disadvantages too. Vectric has provided excellent presentations in the past and I am confident whatever the location is we can count on the trip being well worth it (and it is a bonus that I can drive this one).
Sorry that some of you feel the way you do but I look forward to the richness Vectric has to offer us.

Not a rumor. It is in Chicago. Have fun!!
Love the Vectric presentation -- It's the cost and hassle of going to and staying in Chicago. I live by Detroit, and wouldn't want it here either.

Re: 2018 US User Group Meeting - Have your say
You're treating it as a vacation, with the Meeting being secondary.
I went last year for the same reason. If it were not in Las Vegas, I wouldn't have gone.
While I'd love to go every year, I have a limited amount of vacation time.
I think that 90% of the users go specifically for the Meeting, and it doesn't make much difference to them where it is, as long as it's not too expensive, or hard to get to. While Chicago is expensive, it is within driving distance for a lot of people.
I'd love for it to be in Detroit. Much easier to attend if you don't have to travel.

Maybe some people just don't like Las Vegas, but other than distance, I can't think of any. Lots of hotels, great food, and things to do, along with great weather.but "Sin City" has it's disadvantages too

Re: 2018 US User Group Meeting - Have your say
The US is a very large country. No matter where the event is held many people will have to travel a considerable distance. I attended the meeting in Orlando, FL a couple of years ago (I live in MA). A trip like that is a big deal for me so I combined it with visiting a friend and a few of the local attractions. I would do the same with any location where I had to fly and stay at a hotel.
That said I would suggest that Vectric have the event a different locations each year. So far the meetings have been at Orlando, Pittsburg and Vegas. I think that if this year the event is in Boston that next year is in Chicago and the following year is in Seattle and so forth. These cities are just an example, obviously no decisions have been made at this point in time. This plan would make the meetings accessible to as many people as possible over a period of time.
