A little more info to add to Michael's Thursday Agenda"
We all know what a wizard Michael Mezalick is. He is planning some real whiz bang and intentionally out of the box rotary projects. We are going to try and cut most everything that is designed at the Camp. This will be both unbranded and all branded. We are hoping to have users bring projects or designs from all machine brands and control softwares. We also hope to entice some OEMS to have machines with rotary axes that will cut them.
My class, titled "Rotary (4th) Axis Demystified" , is about an hour and a half and consists of information pertinent to those that have a rotary axis, or those who may wish to purchase or build one. Hardware and software information from both branded and generic 4th axis products. From Vectric rotary wrapped 2D setups to full 4th axis machining, with 2, 2.5 and 3D indexed machining in between.
All Vectric Rotary gadgets are explained along with hand coding for the rotary that most anyone can understand. There will be info of value for those that have never done rotary and a few tricks and techniques that even the most experienced will appreciate. I will have on hand one of my wood lathe modifications with a rotary 4th axis and this will allow a good number of the class files to be cut live, along with those from Michael's designs. Special attention will be dedicated to applying 2.5 and 3D toolpaths to 3D blank models that are either lathe turned or 3D toolpathed within VCPro or Aspire.
Looking forward to seeing you there!

Re: Aspire camp 2016 registration
Took a look at the attendees who are attending this years Aspire Camp. the percentage of those who have attended 2 or more camps is 58% those who have been to at least one is almost 70% ! I get asked often by new people "will this camp benefit me ?" We my best guess is all of them had to attend at least once for the first time !

Is there a decent hotel within reasonable walking distance of the class location?

I'm staying at the Marriot Spring Hill Suites. They are always very nice hotel with a free breakfast. It looks like one of the closes. The Hilton, Springhill and the Marriott look to be around 2 to 2 1/2 miles away as the crow flies.

Re: Aspire camp 2016 registration
the area is safe for walking you can gps the walk from 3527 main 29203 to 1201 main 29201. a good 40 min walk with a slight uphillBArnold wrote:Is there a decent hotel within reasonable walking distance of the class location?
the main town hotel district is main st and the vista, large college, govt and corporate area, so lots of restaurants and hotels.
I have yet to see anyone need a car as so many drive and ride sharing seems to be a big "lets go eat " part of this

Re: Aspire camp 2016 registration
Thanks for the lodging information. After looking around a bit, I booked my wife and me at the Marriot Spring Hill Suites. We'll arrive Wednesday evening. I'm looking forward to learning a lot and meeting some of you great folks!!!
I currently use VCarve Desktop but am preparing to upgrade to Pro soon. I'm strictly a hobbyist at this point but am being encouraged to start selling a few things. I'm looking forward to learning about 4th axis operation.

First day agenda looks great! I'm booked at the Red Roof Inn and will be arriving on Wednesday night as well since I'm driving down from West Virginia. Look forward to meeting a lot of the folks that are so active here. Thanks for pulling this together.

Re: Aspire camp 2016 registration
Yesterday was pretty heavy registration wise. I will be cutting registration next Tuesday for a while. I do not want to oversell and have to turn away anyone beyond that, we are down to 30 or less seats available

Is this the same thing as the Vegas shindig? Will there be another conference later this year, and, if so, any idea where?
