mfirlott wrote:I just ran Aspire 4.5 and under File menu, opened the Application Folder, then the Tool Database folder then exited Aspire 4.5 (leaving the file window open). I did the same for Aspire 8. Now I have two file windows opened, one for V4.5 and another for V8 database folders. In the V8 folder I renamed the database files to preserve them (I just edit their filenames and add "_old" to the end). Then drag/drop the Aspire v4.5 tool database files into the Aspire V8 tools database directory.

Launch Aspire V8 and your old tools database will be there.

Excellent, thank you!

Downloaded and installed V8 w/o any problems. Cannot get onto Portal, never received an email with logon info. Checked junk/spam/trash folders with no luck......

Contacted support earlier, guess I'm caught in the time-zone warp....... :(

I'm still waiting to hear back from the sales folks.. still no email or any contact regarding the upgrade. I'm sitting here with my credit card anxiously awaiting. It is almost like they are afraid to take my money! lol

Henri,
It took a day or so for my email to come in for the portal login.

I've heard that about the portal... but I haven't received the email about upgrading to 8 yet that was sent out last month. It was sent apparently, but nothing in my inbox or junk mail, and I have tried contacting sales via email through the upgrade link on the website but no answer there yet either. I am guessing they are busy fielding new upgrades, but it is kind of frustrating at the same time.

As the V8 upgrade emails go out I'm becoming verrry curious as to how the addresses are sorted for the batches that are sent out. In other words what determines if you are at the top or the bottom of the list?

Hi Larry,
All the emails have been sent now. Yours was sent at 11:08 (U.K time) on the 26th February. I've just checked and the email address it was sent to is the same one you have registered for the forum. I have just resent the email, if you can't see it please check your spam / junk email folder.

Thanks Brian for going the extra mile! Downloaded and installed, looking forward to the tutorials and clip art to follow. I have no idea what happened to the original email. It never even showed up at my providers site.

The tutorial on clipart indicates that there should be a documentation folder that contains the Reference Manual, A Clipart Guide, A Tutorial Guide, and a Whats New Guide. I seem to be unable to locate those guides. Any hints as to where they may be?

The Reference Manual is linked to from the Aspire 8 group on the Windows Start menu or you can get directly to the PDF from the Open Application Data Folder option on the File menu. The Reference Manual is essentially the same content as the Help Contents on the Help menu with the addition of a table of contents. If you're reading either document on your PC rather than printing then I'd use the Help Contents as it's interactive with the ability click on screen shots to get to the relevant sections.

The What's New guide is also on the Help menu.

Clipart guide is here - http://www.vectric.com/media/docs/produ ... spire8.pdf

Tutorial video guide document is here - http://www.vectric.com/media/docs/suppo ... Aspire.pdf

With version 4 all of these documents were in the Documentation folder of Vectric Files in Public Documents but in Version 8 (my copy at least) they're not there but it might be worth a look to see if they are on yours.

Adrian......
I must first apologize for my 'blindness' on the What's new...... :(
As in your case, there is no Documentation folder in the "public documents/Vectric files" folder....I'm on Win8.... Win7 is the same...
Thank you for your help...

How long after we purchase the upgrade should it take to get an email with information on registering and accessing the PORTAL for the new clip art download? Just curious? I purchased the upgrade last night and eager to check out the new clip art and user portal.

Thanks for the upgrades!

Gerald
