If it was created in Illustrator, it should have saved as a .ai file.
Whatever it is, it is no wonder it locks up Aspire, it is enormous.
About 5 feet long and 1 inch wide.
It is also very rough, it will take you ages to clean it up.
Anyway, this is what it looks like

You can take it from here.

Hi All
Corel X5 & on will also work with ai & dxf files.
Just have a care when it prompts you how to handle nodes & units etc.

Wolffie's right about cleanup. Here's what the vectors look like without the fill. BTW, I think this issue is caused by using "Fill" in Illustrator, it seems to create the offset vectors. Try and get the file (as AI or EPS, preferably) from the client without fill turned on, and you should have a much better file.

Martin,

I don't see any difference - still filled, and multiple vectors, overlapping...

Ron, that's strange, I've just downloaded the last one I posted & yes it is filled but it doesn't contain multiple vectors when I view it in wireframe with my software. The small file size would indicate that it is a lot less complex as well.

Martin,

I downloaded the file you posted and didn't see multiple vectors. I ran a shallow profile cut and it looked fine to me.

You were lucky. The vectors posted have a few issues that could cause issues with certain toolpaths. There are a few loops and stray vectors and some of the segments that should be smooth are not.

Yes sorry Tim, should have made myself clear. It was literally a 2 minute job to get rid of most of the unwanted rubbish, still needed a bit of clean up & node editing before cutting but should have been good enough to be able to give the customer a visual & quote. I wouldn't spend the time cleaning it up perfectly unless I knew I had got the job.

When tracing an image by drawing vectors with a mouse, these loops and other jagged anomalies can also be created by an electrically "noisy" mouse button switch. Replacing the mouse with a newer one will usually help if the original mouse was already well used. Switches do have a limited useful life. Dirt cheap mouses usually don't have high quality switches.

You're right, but the multiple vectors from the initial file are gone. The op has something better to work with now.
Running a vee bit with a .020" pass only showed a couple of strays that were barely visible on a 14" laptop screen. It's useable but the file does still need some clean up.
