tricks for sanding inside engraved letters in wood?

Post by fluted_hope »

working on a project with engraved letters in wood. The letters are in an 8 x .75 text box and "pocketed" in the wood with a .125 ball nose.

Any tips on how to sand those?

Use a dremel with either the scotchbrite "mops", or diamond burrs. They are available at big box hardware stores, or online at eBay and other online merchants.

I use a 'sanding mop' as well as the diamond bits as above.

There are also wire and plastic brushes that work with dremel tools:

A dremil mandrel with a piece of scotchbrite pad works almost as well as the mini sanding mops.

Oh, that's a great idea. I'm going to have to try that.
