Keyboard shortcut chart

Post by revwarguy »

Has anyone done a keyboard shortcut sheet for either Vcarve or Aspire? After some searching, I saw someone mention a page from the help file pdf, but I didn't see that either. The help file with the product (i.e. F1) does not have page numbers. Anyone have a printable keyboard cheat sheet?

Help Menu > Keyboard Shortcuts. That opens in a browser so you can print from there using normal browser print commands. Page numbers are part of that if you really want them.

I find that link to the Keys somewhat useful.... but I also find that I like a simple shorter print-out (instead of 63 pages):

You can format this as you wish....or convert to pdf etc

Under Node Editing, below X is some foreign language text.

Ok, I'm reviving this thread since I'm just back from the 2022 UGM (fantastic meeting!!), and once again realizing I only use about 10% of the keyboard shortcuts.

So... I went looking again to print out a simple "cheat sheet" of the keyboard shortcuts, maybe two-sided, that I can laminate and keep on my desk.

The shortcuts list for V11 layout is even worse for printing out, 22 pages for me when I preview it as a PDF to print.

I went back to look at the last one I printed, for V10, a mere 10 pages, and the layout was much more condensed, but no where near something that would fit on a double-sided, laminated real-world cheat sheet.

A "cheat sheet" doesn't have to have the long explanations of the documentation, so it could be condensed into a couple columns on each side, with brief hints for what a key means, and the syntax for things like the equal sign (I use other software so I routinely screw up whether the equal sign is first or last, e.g. trying to enter a little less than the Z thickness in a toolpath... Z-0.02=). The full docs are easy to access from Aspire if there is any confusion on a specific shortcut. The cheat sheet is just a memory-jogger / reminder for the less frequently used ones, and specific key order or modifier keys.

Before I dive into trying to layout a more condensed one, has anyone created a keyboard shortcuts PDF cheat sheet? Or taken a stab at it? Or ???

Cheers,

Slightly edited version of hooby's .xlsx file above, with translated text...

If no one else has made progress, I may use the Excel file as a starting point.

How did your efforts come out on this? I just started diving into vcarve and don't really want to have to make my own campbell's condensed version if someone has done it already :)
Thanks,

Bets to use the "official" Keyboard Shortcuts on the Help menu IMO. All the info is there and always up to date.
