3D Coin Cut?

Is there a way to "cookie-cut" an acquired irregular 3D STL model in the modeling tab to a specified round shape for using it as a coin?

Without seeing the file its difficult to say for sure but if you look at the modeling tools the remove area outside or inside vector boundary might do what you want, you just need to draw the vector
