So I have 3 versions (10.515, 11.016, 11.504) of Aspire.
1) I have to deal with people who haven't upgraded.
2) To test the new version.
When I open 11.5 tool database it behaves as you would expect.
When I open 10.5 and 11 i get Tool Database is open in read only.
Anyone know why?

Re: Tool Database is open in read only
When you say “open 10.5 and 11” how are you “opening” them? In 11.5? In their native versions? With an SQL viewer?

Re: Tool Database is open in read only
in 10.5 and 11 you first have to create a project and then TOOLPATHS tab pull menu down to TOOL DATABASE.
I only have one version and copy open at a time.

Re: Tool Database is open in read only
John I had the same problem in November.
Vectric support had me copy the tool.vtdb file from the working folder/version into the non-work folders.
I'd recommend rename the old to something like tools.vtdb.old
That fixed it.

Re: Tool Database is open in read only
Try this:
May I ask if you can try the following, if the 10.5 database is complete i.e. the one you need for 11 as well:
Open 11 and click File > Open Application Data Folder and go to the Tool Database folder
Rename the tools.vtdb file to tools.vtdb.backup
Go to 10.5 open it > File > Open Application Data Folder and go to the Tool Database folder
Copy the tools.vtdb file and place it in the 11.0 tool database folder
Close and re-open 11, see if it now works
Kind regards,
Nav

Hi John.
Is this in V11.0 you are seeing this and have you downloaded the latest version of your Database from the online backup system?
If so, that would explain it, the V11.5 Database contains more data, so while you can open it in V11.0 you don't want to edit it and upload that again.
If you use the Download option in V11.0 to download the Database again, make sure you select the option Aspire V10
This would download the older version into V11.0 which will allow it to run.
Once done, close the Database and Open it again, and use the Upload version to upload the V11.0 Database to the cloud so it is recognised as the current version to use in Aspire V11.0
I hope this helps
Best Regards
