Does anyone know where I could get an STL file for a comfort bird?

Have a look in your portal account, there was a little bird done as one of the in the labs projects. It was a while ago so you may have to look through a few pages

I made one into a Bottle stopper

Thanks Martin,
Found it on level 6, It is not an STL file but I think it might work.

Why do you need an STL file? If it is for something like 3D printing then can't you import the model into Aspire & then export it as an STL file for use elsewhere?

You are correct. I am trying to use Milo Scotts continuous turning round method on my 4th axis to speed up the carving process. My woodworking guild is planning on making 500 to give away. I will be able to use the one from the portal.

thanks again,

yes thanks. That was the one I found on the portal. Fyi, that one took about 1hr to carve with 1/8" bits. If you use 1/4" bits - 30 minutes.

Something like this? I'll share the file if requested but it's in Aspire. Here is a link to the .stl file that I created.

Steve,
That is exactly what I was thinking. Interested in the file. I have Aspire 11.5.

Okay. Here is a link to the file. It's too big to upload.

My first example was a bit crude and rough so I cleaned it up a little by exporting the bird with a higher resolution to help remove some of the facets. I also extended the length of the blank a little to show how it's supported. The tab under the beak is only .25 inches in diameter to keep the clean up to a minimum so the bit feeds should be slow enough to keep it from breaking. Also, my tool numbers are based on macros that automatically measure the tool for rotary projects using the center of rotation for z-zero. You may want to change it. If you don't, you will probably get an error message when trying to save the toolpath.
