Been At It Again: Free Model

Post by TReischl »

In the continuing effort to improve my modeling skills:

This is an original by me, well, as original as a bow tie gets anyway. This model is NOT symmetrical. One of the things I recently learned from the "pros" is that items like this do not look natural if they are symmetrical. Well, maybe if a bow tie is a clip on it is???? Anyway, if you find it useful go ahead and use it as you see fit.

Ted,

Thanks for the bow tie. That brought to mind an "In the labs with Beki" video: https://www.vectric.com/vectric-communi ... abs/BowTie for those who might need a bit of tutorial help in cutting this model.

A bow tie that I wear for choral concerts (when we don't go open necked) is this diamond point one: https://knotheory.com/products/black-wh ... mond-point albeit in all black. That might be a challenge for your modelling skills...

I had not seen that style of tie. I am thinking I will give it a go today. The big trick is actually knowing what I am looking at. Going to dig around and see if I can find a few more images to give me some clues. Thanks for sharing that.

OK, I watched the video on how to tie it. That is a huge help in understanding what I am seeing.

Just because I know threads get “lost” overtime, I wanted to add a link back to Ted’s other new thread with this newest diamond point bow tie” that was referenced here:
viewtopic.php?f=27&t=39192
This way, months or years from now, one can easily find both ties.

Thank you Ted for sharing your hard work. As a relative newbie who doesn’t get lots of playtime, I appreciate those of you who so kindly and freely share models for others to try.
