I need to wrap a moss texture(gravel, woodgrain, doesn't matter) around a model where the entire outside of the model obtains the texture I give it. The model would be similar to a tube. After the texture is applied, the tube should then have the entire outside of it having a moss(gravel, woodgrain, doesn't matter) pattern applied down and around the entire tube.
Another example of this would be having a ball that is smooth. You apply a fuzzy fur texture to it to get a fuzzy tennis ball.

I don't do rotary but the process I would imagine would be the same with any model where you just lay the texture over the top of your component, (for a rotary project lay it over the unrolled tube/cylinder) you can use one of the textures within the software or import a bitmap & create a model from the bitmap

Hi MicahlSmith,
Check out Michael Mezalick's "Play Ball" YouTube Tutorial.
I used it as a foundation to making a realistic model of the Earth.
Good Luck,
Brooks

Re: Wrap Texture around Component
Two ways to do IMSHO. Rotary or 2 sided.
As with many projects in Vectric software there are several ways to skin a cat.
Moulding is out since we couldn't overlay the texture on a moulding toolpath.
Rotary
I don't have a rotary capable machine , but this sounds incredibly simple.
Create your "tube" as a rotary job. There are many tutorials.
Once you are happy with its shape, then add your texture as another component.
Done
2 sided
Create your 1/2 "tube" on the top side.
Copy tube to other side.
Add your text to top side as another component.
Copy that componet to other side.
Done
EDIT 1
If you have the rotary option it will produce a cleaner interface where the ends of your texture meet.
2 sided will have 2 lines where the front and back components met.
Your texture may hide this, but also make it harder to blend out because of the texture and inability to sand.

Since this is in the Aspire section I am going to assume the OP has Aspire, don't forget that in Aspire you can create a component from a Toolpath preview so the moulding toolpath can't be ruled out. In this instance though it wouldn't save any time if the texture is to cover the whole of the tube

Re: Wrap Texture around Component
I am not very good with searches or I would post a link, there have been a couple of occasions where a forum member has used the moulding toolpath over a 3D model for speed of machining, then created a component from the toolpath preview just so they could add text to the surface

I've got to start to try all buttons and pull down menus when they put out a new major version.
I guess I stick to the ones I know and have used. Got break that habit.
