newbe nudge question

Post by labautoman »

Hi,

Can you change the amount a vector moves for each arrow click ? I am trying to copy circles and nudging them over a fixed amount but I can not find where to change the nudge amount.

Thanks

Hello,
I normally just zoom in closer until I get the best nudge amount with a tap of the arrow key. The closer you zoom the finer the increments of each nudge. I use a 2 button mouse with the scroll wheel and simply scroll in as close as needed for nudging. You will get to a point where you can no longer zoom closer but it is normally always sufficient to do what I am trying to do. Otherwise if you know the exact coordinates of the location you want to move the vector to, you can use the 'Move Selected Objects' tool to move the vector to the precise location. I hope this helps!
Best regards,
Wes

As Wes said - The nudge movement is based on the zoom level.
We feel that having a constant user specified nudge distance
would be too annoying - it might work initially for large movements
but would then need constant editing when smaller / continually
changing nudge amounts are required.

Tip
  • Holding Shift when nudging increases the nudge distance

Holding Ctrl when nudging reduces the nudge distance

It would be nice to be able to set the nudge amount. Say I want to space eight circle 9mm on center. It would be nice to set the nudge to 9mm, draw on circle, copy and past hit the arrow key. now you have two. Copy and past the two circles now hit the arrow two times now you have four. Do it again with four an you have eight. All in about 30 seconds. Maybe you can make a function that you can turn on an off. Just a thought

Why not just set the array tool to 9mm and set the number of copies to 8 and be finished?
