I wouldn't get the ring unless you want if for something else. I can't think of why you'd need a ring for CNC stuff. Also it seems to me like something I'd worry about i.e. you'd have the ring on too low and the machine would try and plunge the ring into the work piece.
Take it easy.

Kimon,
I myself love the rings....but they are only effective if you use multiple bits with rings...
when I do a job that will require bit changes, I only have to set my Z once...
from then on all bits that get installed will be set at the exact Z height.
They mount the rings and they won't move without alot of force.....
This is really nice when you loose your Z setting because the whole piece as been cut away,
by having a depth ring you will still be able to have a correct setting on your Z...
does that make sense?...

I hadn't thought of using them that way. That'd make things pretty nice.

See it just goes to show, don't listen to me.

Can you get different colored rings? That would help with bit identification.
Take it easy.

I've only seen blue and white from precise bits....some of the white ones have the tool id printed into the ring...some don't...
I'm not sure what the color signifies...but thats the only two I've seen...so there might be more..

Hahahah, too late I listened to Jay, but might give the rings a try next order.

Well shame on you Kimon. I can tell you've never met my wife; the first thing she tells people is to ignore me.

You didn't want those rings anyways they're evil! Yeah that's it, evil....
Take it easy.

I agree with Chuck, but Jay's point is valid. I have put the ring into the material. But then that would be considered operator error I think.

I use the Precise bits also with great results. I figure that the rings are either free or insignificant in the price, (senior moment) so I can remove them if I need to.
