Plate Production - I am stuck

Post by tzaccario »

VCarve Pro version 11.505

Having my first go at creating something using plate production, and I have hit a snag.

I am creating soccer balls with the kids names on them for my daughters team. I have my original design with toolpaths assigned.

Following along with the Vectric tutorial I created a csv with the names, imported the list through the plate production tool, and I have create toolpaths radio button checked.

It creates all 13 sets of vectors (soccer balls) with the names on them like I had wanted, however only 1 actually has toolpaths assigned. I am out of ideas, but I am sure I am overlooking something simple.

Thanks
Tom

The plate production tool creates the vectors. Its up to you to create the toolpath.

Simplest way is to set the original ball and text up with layers and then associate those layers to the toolpaths using the vector selector at the bottom of the toolpath form.

Once you've run the plate production tool you can then click the Recalculate All toolpaths button to expand the toolpaths to encompass those new vectors.

That's how I did it previously, it was pretty easy to just copy everything and only have to do the names. I thought in v11 the toolpaths were able to be generated, I'll have to go back and watch the tutorial again, bc I may just be losing my mind.

So I rewatched the vectric tutorial this morning, and the toolpaths definitely were generated for all of the plates that were created.

I am out of ideas with this one. I followed it exactly how they did it, and everything generated but the additional toolpaths even though I had the button clicked to generate them

Worked Fine for me!!! Have all the toolpaths too!

Make sure the original ball (with !!Name!!) is selected/highlighted

At least I know I am not losing it, and it can be done. For whatever reason, it's just not cooperating on my side.

I create toolpaths for the original vectors, select everything and run the plate tool, it creates all of the copies, but only 1 toolpath for the original.

I even moved the vectors into a new document to see if maybe something got corrupted.. but still no damn luck

Bit confused by your pictures as it's showing that toolpaths have been created for Sheet1 so there are more toolpaths there than just the three original ones.

Works fine for me in tests (now I've understood how it works in the latest versions) so not sure what you're doing wrong.

That's the weird thing. It creates that Sheet 1 toolpath, but the only toolpath is on the original set of vectors.

I'm going to take a blank file and try the plate function in that one to see if it's vectric or user error.. My guess is I am doing something stupid along the way

Are you manually selecting the "original vectors" for the toolpath?

I was using Automatic to make life easier.

I actually got it to work. Somehow the file I was using got corrupted or just stopped working correctly.

I created a new file, with new toolpaths and the plate production tool worked perfectly

A strange scenario, but I appreciate the input from all.

Thanks
