3D Problem

Post by Songweaver1 »

I'm trying to carve out an eagles head into a circle about 3" in diameter. I review the rough and there is a flat spot on the top middle of the cut. I add the preview of the finish cut and the flat spot is still there in preview...??
I have set the model position in material to 0.1232 but the flat spot still shows up in the preview. I tried a cut and the flat spot is definitely there...???
It says the .crv file is too big to send as an attachment.

If the file is too large to upload here you can use a file sharing site such as drive.google.com, onedrive.com, or dropbox.com. They all have free accounts available
  • Upload the file to the file sharing site
  • Make the link shareable
  • Share the link to the file here
For screenshots please use the Windows Snipping tool. These are far easier to read than photos taken with your phone.

On many Windows systems you can also use <Windows-key><Shift><S>

Try adding a zero plane if you don't have one. After you moved the models position in the material did you recalculate the toolpaths?

If you are still getting a flat spot that means your model is not sufficiently below surface of material board being carved. Lower the model a bit more until flat spot disappears.

Review this tutorial video Vectric provides:

https://www.vectric.com/support/tutoria ... hed-recess

This explains the use of the Multiply combining mode in order to address this very problem of placing objects in a dish and avoiding flat spots.
