Snapping question

Post by Aussie »

I want to snap a guide line to a vector…. let’s say a square.
The horizontal guide snaps to the vector perfectly, however the vertical guide does not.
Any ideas what I am missing here?
Thanks

Are the red circled top icons checked?

Do you have all the snapping options selected that you need? Bottom circle.

Ron,

The snaps tend to want to snap to important points on the square (ends, mid-point, etc.). Both horizontal and vertical work for me that way.

Yes John all selected.
Strange it works perfectly for horizontal but not vertical guides…
I can get close on the vertical by zooming way in and manually adjusting but it is not exactly on the vertical vector.

When you drag the guide over make sure you're snapping to a corner or a mid-point. You can't snap to a random point on a span. Generally you want to be snapping to some sort of node position.

I don't use guides but I've tested this with a square and vertical/horizontal guides and it's working exactly like that as Steven as said as well.

Thank you Adrian
I was trying to snap to a span rather than a node point.
Works perfectly.
