Cutting large vector shapes individually

Post by btraumuller »

I imported vectors from an SVG files that has multiple vector shapes for an entire project. The shapes are on a job size of 48"x48" but my CNC supports only 25"x25". Many of the vectors are within the 25x25 capacity of my CNC. What is the easiest/best way to cut the vector shapes that fit on my CNC? Do I need to copy them onto their own job? Thanks Bruce

If all the items can fit on the bed of your machine it seems to me the easiest way is to resize the job to your machine size and then use the nesting function to nest the shapes to fit your machine. Nesting will create extra sheets as necessary. Help file link

Not sure if Desktop supports nesting, if it doesn't then you can resize as suggested & then manually place parts to be cut either using layers or sheets which will keep things organised

Ah, martin is right about nesting not being available in Desktop. Looking at the documentation links here I selected Desktop but saw the “Plate Production” icon and mis-interpreted that as Nesting. Oops.
