3D print to Engaving

Post by Kristian Olauson »

Hello, just wondering if anyone has a suggestion of how to turn this logo into a 3D looking carving in Vcarve Pro.

How long is a piece of string? What kind of 3D are you looking for?

Here's a fairly lame 5 minute attempt. I just made each of the 3 colours in the M into a region and pocketed two of those regions to a depth. If I had spent 10 minutes I'd have cleaned up the boundaries.

created logo in sketchup, exported to stl

imported into Aspire should work in Pro too.

Your logo has issues, there is an undercut in the very front.

Thanks John. Any chance you could show me how it would look from tool path preview? My thought was to hog out some material and leave the logo and text proud. I attached a PDF vector file with a layout that I was thinking might work.
