Dont know where to start
Dont know where to start
Hello.
I'm brand spanking new at all of this.
Basically I have only cut oblong shapes to make some units.
But I have been asked, if I can replicate these Designs to a bit larger scale.
I have V Carve Pro, but I dont have a clue to where to start.
If any one can help, to a video or something.
It would be really appreciated
I would defo like to be able to create it myself.
I dont even know how to post a picture, so here is the website:
https://www.plasterceilingroses.com/pro ... architrave
Its what there call the ceiling rose.

Re: Dont know where to start
You would need to provide a bit more detail, looking at the ceiling roses there are a number of different styles, some you are unlikely to be able to recreate with Vcarve as they would need to be created using 3D modelling tools & vcarve doesn't have those. Others could be created using vcarve but how they were created would depend on which style it was
You may be able to find an existing stl model for any of those that require 3D machining which would allow you to machine it using vcarve.

Re: Dont know where to start
Are you trying to make the corner shapes or the straight sides/tops? Maybe both? I would make them with the moulding toolpath. Check out the Vectric videos on YouTube. Here is a link to one of them.

Re: Dont know where to start
There are loads of ceiling roses on that website lol, the page it links to doesn't have any ceiling roses on it
Well not what I understand as a ceiling rose anyway
Or are you talking about the corner pieces on the architrave page that it lands on

Re: Dont know where to start
martin: I expect what is being reffered to as a “ceiling rose” is this item. I’m not good with names of such things but I’d be tempted to call it: architrave finial.
I wonder if such an item already exists in the clipart library? It certainly looks doable as a moulding toolpath. Make the profile. Draw a tiny circle to use as a rail and "Bob’s yer unlce”.

Re: Dont know where to start
I did this with just the moulding toolpath in about 30 minutes using just the picture on the website. I'd be happy to share the file if you think it will help you understand how I did it.

Re: Dont know where to start
It doesn't appear to be a ceiling rose that the op is looking to recreate although they haven't actually replied to confirm that yet, the other thing is that the one you have modelled doesn't match any of the ceiling roses on that website from what I can seesharkcutup wrote: ↑Fri Feb 03, 2023 9:29 pmHere is a 30" Diameter Ceiling Rose done in V-Carve Pro Using the Available Clip Art from its Clip Art Library.

Re: Dont know where to start
On the web site the original poster references there are ceiling roses, and he specifically mentions ceiling roses in the last line of his original post.
Sharkcutup demonstrated that it is possible to come up with a number of ceiling rose designs using the clipart supplied with Vcarve.

Yes that's what threw me Randall. I thought he was looking for ceiling roses & there are 4 pages of themRcnewcomb wrote: ↑Sat Feb 04, 2023 12:07 amOn the web site the original poster references there are ceiling roses, and he specifically mentions ceiling roses in the last line of his original post.

But it's this bit from the second op post Looks like its made from HMDF green coloured. can't see any that look green in the ceiling rose section

Yes sharkcutup has done a good job of showing it can be done using the clipart supplied, I was just pointing out that the op had been asked to recreate one not design one

Re: Dont know where to start
YUP!!!
I believe the OP was referring to the GREEN thing and calling it a ceiling rose (when in fact it is not).
So
I have created a replica of the Green Thing using V-Carve Pro and the Associated Clip Art.
This should satisfy all - I hope!!!
Happy Carving Everyone!!!
