Zheight
I,m running V-Carve and Mach 3 At the start of every job the tool lifts 20.32 mm above the material and goes through the whole process at this height. The 20.32 is reflected in a spot at the bottom of the toolpath window and is greyed out. Where on earth is V Carve getting this measurment from???

Re: Zheight
It shouldn't be running the whole job at that height though.
Have you cut with this machine before or is the first time?

Re: Zheight
For all the world this sounds like a case of job Z Zero is set to material surface and the machine thinking Z Zero is at the machine bed (or vice-versa).
Presuming that 20.32 is a metric mm value the inch value is 0.8 which is the Vectric default value for the Z gap above material that Gary pointed out.

Re: Zheight
Another possibility if the z-axis is not moving at all is that when the machine starts & the z-axis lifts it is topping out & tripping the z-axis driver
