Tiling question
this is one of my biggest signs yet and I have tried over and over to move the letters around so they are not in the "split". I just can't seem to make it look right. Any suggestions or am I just freaking out about the overlap? or both... ( I had to delete the tool paths to be able to send it, The tile size is 22X44)

Re: Tiling question
Do you want to tile horizontally or vertically ?
What I see is a bit odd (sorry). The top text seems correctly set on a circular vector, the bottom text not. The 'U' in the bottom text seems a bit out of position. Also the two circles are not totally parallel / offset. Is this the good file at all ?
If I were you I would already put a tile border in your design program. Easier to see and work. Did you design this in VCarve Pro ?
Marcel.

Re: Tiling question
To follow up on Marcel's notes (which came in while I was fiddling about). How about this?
- Blue circle was set at top and bottom of existing text
- From that I noticed "One..." and both of the curved lines of text could be moved left to better centre
- Artwork rotated -3 degrees about the centre within the circle
- Guideline is at 23.25 inches

Re: Tiling question
yes I did this in vcarve pro I was trying to manipulate the text to work with the tile and it looked goofy as you say.... Here I tried again this time I didn't try to manipulate anything but I have plenty of text in the tile area. once again in need a tile 22X44FabLab Wageningen wrote: ↑Tue Nov 29, 2022 8:26 pmDo you want to tile horizontally or vertically ?

Re: Tiling question
Your new design looks much better,
Steven, obviously, has the right - though somewhat fiddely - solution for you, but I (lazy designer) wondered: is this design not easier to do with 3 horizontal panels ? One with the 'bar & grill' text, one with 'one - 80 - six' and the bottom with 'marquand mo'? No splitting of text at all. Just a thought.
Marcel.

Re: Tiling question
Marcel I took your advice and tried vertical tiling since my x axis is too small for the 44 " project. I took and spun the whole thing 90 degrees and tile it at 14.75" and waaaaall ahhhh.

Re: Tiling question
My brother talked me into doing a practice piece for another large tiling project I'm working on. I want to try the overlap feature to see how it works before I carve the 24X144 sign. how do you find XY zero when you move the project? just work off the XY zero from the first pass by drawing a line for your starting point? that is how I was going to do it but I wanted to check and see if I'm heading in the right direction before I start carving on $200 worth of lumber..
