Is it possible to display rulers and guidelines in the 3D preview, this would come in handy when placing keyholes on the bottom side of a model so you know the thickness of the material you have available.

The co-ordinate system is the same in the 2D window and 3D window so if you look on the status bar at the bottom you can match up X and Y positions once you've found a Z thickness (also displayed in the status bar) that does the job.

Re: 3D preview
Would using the ruler tool and checking the model cross-section button help get what you need?

Thank you Adrian
Yes that will work… still think the guide lines would be helpful and turn them off if you want to.
