I think I got it!!!! FINALLY !

Post by Custom carving »

I have been working for months to try and figure out how to stack text with many missteps and a lot of your help I finally think I have conquered stacked text. I still need to practice my technique but I have come a long way. I saw a little fuzziness in the preview. Im wondering what that is

Depends what you mean by fuzziness. It could be that your Preview Simulation Quality on the Toolpaths menu is too low or it could be that you're seeing the parts that are cleared by the v-bit so they won't be as smooth as those done by endmills.

Here's a slight change in tooling to remove the any v-bit "fuzziness".

Simulation using 60 degree v-bit as the tool:

Simulation using 30 degree 0.01" flat engraving bit: **

--

No "fuzzies" because the engraving bit's flat end.

** Note: v-bits are quoted and entered using the full included angle (in this toolpath 60 degrees). Engraving bits are quoted using side angle only i.e. 1/2 of the included angle if the engraving bit had a 0 inch flat (in my toolpath 30 degrees). Both bits cut a slope 30 degrees from the vertical.

thanks for the advice I want to try and carve it and see how it looks.... I have had a hard time learning this skill but with practice I think I will be fine. I was not happy with any of the previews that I had made until now. so now it's off to make MAN GLITTER (saw dust)
