Hi All,
Still learning here. I am cutting out a bunch of fish for someone to paint. I have the Profile Tool to cut out the outline, but wanted to give her very faint (depth .04) scoring lines to help her get her bearings when painting (where the eye is, some lines on the tail, etc.) It seems the engraving too is giving me that Open Vectors error, but these will not be closed paths as they are open curves and lines. Can VCarve not do this?
Thanks!
Kerry

Re: Faint Scoring Lines
Use the Profile Toolpath ON the vectors using a V-bit to a shallow depth.

Re: Faint Scoring Lines
That shouldn't stop you machining them so just ignore the message, the toolpath preview will confirm if it looks as you want it to
Probably should have said just click OK

Re: Faint Scoring Lines
Thanks all for the help.
I tried to bi-pass but looks like it's only getting my eyes.
To be clear, I shouldn't have to have the lines be a connected shape right?

Re: Faint Scoring Lines
Check that you have the Machine Vectors option in the profile toolpath set to be On the vector and not Inside/Outside.
You can't mix open and closed vectors in and Inside/Outside toolpath and that error you had should only be displayed if you have the toolpath set to Outside/Inside.

You all ROCK. It was exactly that - the ON machine path - I had the profile obviously defaulting to the Outside.
Works great. Thanks again!!

Re: Faint Scoring Lines
Make sure you check it on your next project, the toolpath remembers your last option so next time you go to do a profile cut it will have defaulted to ON the lineBallardBuilt wrote: ↑Mon Oct 25, 2021 6:16 pmYou all ROCK.
