Engrave Test

Post by Aussie »

This was engraved on 2 ply plastic with an Amana 51515 0 flute 1/16 EM, Quick engrave Toolpath DOC 0.3mm
Finished item will be engraved on Rowmark Glow 2 ply plastic, it is stated the engraving will glow for a minimum 90 minutes after lights out.
Should be good for the grand children's bedrooms.
Will post the final result with the glow material arrives.

Personalized, relatively quick, flat pack storage, and kids Like "Glow-in-the-Dark stuff"! :)
I think you hit a bunch of points there Ron for pre-Christmas gifts.
In US, Centurion tools makes a bit Just for color core, Old Shopbot teacher TJ swore by them;

Looks good to me & as someone has said kids love glow in the dark stuff :lol: :lol:

Are you using a nose cone or just double-sided taping or ca/taping the workpiece down?

I had problems machining engineering laminates until I started to use a suitable method of hold down as it tends to bow up in the middle when clamped around the edge :lol: :lol:

Not sure where you are in the world but try a google search for engraving laminates, Rowmark should come up at the top or very close to it :lol: :lol:

Rowmark I believe is a US company with a branch in Sydney…. Delivery is normally 2 to 3 days.

As the material is 1.27mm I use a vacuum table or tape method…if I am too lazy to setup the vacuum, I did resurface my spoilboard for this job.
I tried a 0.1 pressure and found the cut was not even across the whole surface, 0.3 gave me a good result, will change the font in the next effort for a better “e”

Not sure where Rowmark are based, I do know their laminates are sold around the world :lol: :lol: I use some of their products for indoor & outdoor signs which is why I asked what hold down method you used. I made a small vacuum fixture to keep it flat while machining. Will have to look into the glow in the dark stuff as I don't remember seeing that, bit late for Halloween this year unfortunately but maybe next year :lol: :lol:
