File names

Post by DGF »

Hi,
Can anyone explain, since I upgraded to V carve pro - when I save a file say named 'CUT' it saves it as 'CUT1_cut'
If i the make a change and resave the file it asks me if I want to overwrite, I click yes and it keeps 'CUT1_CUT' and calls the overwritten file 'CUT1-CUT_1-CUT' etc etc
It makes it very confusing and I cant work out why it does it - in Cut 2d pro it always saved the file whatever you called it!

Thanks

There are a fair few files that can be saved:
  • project file (.crv)
  • toolpath gcode file (.nc, .gcode, .tap, etc.)
  • toolpath templates (.template)
Any one of these in particular? Could you use the Windows Snipping Tool to take a screen shot of the save dialog?

What option are you using at the top of the Save Toolpath dialog? It sounds to me you have it set to "Visible toolpaths to multiple files" and the file names it's creating are correct for that option.

You probably had it set to something to one of the other two options in Cut2D.

You can use the Help icon (? mark in the top right corner of the dialog) to get help on what those options mean and decide which one you want for your needs.
