Don't know about that one. The original chamfer gadget has the same error when running in the latest versions as well so it's nothing to do with the updates that Jeff and I did. It works fine on single lines not closed vectors. I'll have to look into it.

Oh I see, I just haven't seen this error before - havent used the gadget long enough.
Well thanks for getting this out here, I appreciate it.

Re: Chamfer toolpath (what am I missing?)
I can fix that error but then there are other issues that appear after that. It works fine on straight chamfers which is what I tested it on but other shapes cause issues with the toolpath calculation itself.
Looks like it might not be as easy to get it working as I thought it would. Last time I updated it was for v10 back in 2019 and it looks like the interface has changed again since then.
If I have the time I'll look some more into it unless Jim or one of the other gadget developers gets there first.

Hey Adrian,
I'm actually using the original Chamfer gadget as well and it doesn't have that error that you mentioned - maybe you're thinking of something else?

Re: Chamfer toolpath (what am I missing?)
You're correct. Looks like Jeff based his version on the v9 Chamfer gadget rather than the v10. The change is the same as I did though and there are other issues arising after that. I'll compare the code a bit more and see if I can see what might be causing it.

Re: Chamfer toolpath (what am I missing?)
Right, this version should be working correctly in so far as any issues it has are also in the original chamfer gadget and/or Jeff's original conversion as well.

Re: Chamfer toolpath (what am I missing?)
Thanks for the clarification. We've added a wish to be able to bypass the stepover (simply doing the final pass straight away). We will review the strategy and do some comparisons with the gadget. This is likely not going to be before 11.5 though, so if the gadget does what you want better, then go for it in the meantime.
The gadget is also available on our website here if needed.
Thanks again!

Re: Chamfer toolpath (what am I missing?)
That gadget only does chamfers on one side of the vector though. The OP wanted both which is why I modified Jeffs updated gadget to work with V11 as that does both.
Even though the official gadget says on the page that it chamfers both ways it never has which is why Jeff created his version.

Re: Chamfer toolpath (what am I missing?)
Adrian - I love the "Chamfer In and Out" Gadget. Would it be possible to set the default tool to be the last tool used by the gadget? The default is for a ball nosed tool.
thank you for your time either way.

Re: Chamfer toolpath (what am I missing?)
I've fixed the original errors in the code and updated a couple of other tool bits.
Rather than add to this thread I've put it on Jeffs original release thread so it's easier for others to find.
