Installing Laser Module on Desktop V11.07

Post by Plane Michael »

I just purchased the Laser Module to add to VCarve Desktop V11.07. The online instructions advise to go to Help > Trial - Laser Module to install the module and then add the license. However, the Help > Trial - Laser Module is not an option on Desktop V11.07. Is the laser module not compatible with V11 or is there another means of installing?

I’m sure it’s compatible with V11, it is also not compatible with the Nextwave PP, on the product page Nextwave is not listed. and if you search this forum you can read issues others have had with Sharks/Nextwave.

Thanks, Scott. Looks like I might have to go the "other" tool route as a work-a-round till I get it sorted out. As luck would have it, it is a NextWave laser I'll be using. Brand new to the CNC world and the laser was a promotional add-on.

I have limited time on my laser but playing around with Nextwaves ready to raster laser software and getting ok results, I have not dedicated the time to dial in power and feed rates yet.

Help > Trial - Laser Module is for activating the trial laser module on the trial version of VCarve.

If you have a purchased license for the full (not trial) version of VCarve then you go to the Help menu and choose "Enter License Code"

I have a 2 watt Next Wave laser and have used the Next Wave CNC (inch) (*.tap) post processer. I'm no wizzard but the few things I've done have turned out OK. FYI, last week I contacted Vectric staff with a laser question and they said they were working with Next Wave and hoped to have something out in the next fix release.

Hi TomGB

These are the post processor files Next Wave Automation's (NWA) support sent me. I have not used my SD120 with Version 11 though. I also have the 2W laser from NBA. Both pp worked the last time i'd used them.

Good Luck,
Brooks

Those aren't post processors for the Laser Module though. They are standard processors for using the laser in the "old" way.

Thank you Adrian for pointing that out.

The above link, is NWA's list of pp compatible with NWA's various machines with links to download the pp.

Hopefully this helps.
