Laser runs with a delay

Post by TomGB »

Doing a photo laser run yesterday with Vcarve Desktop on a Shark HD4, set for raster with Dither selected. Picture came out fine, but every time the laser got to the left and right side of the X axis it stopped for a couple of seconds??? Also noticed that the laser went all the way over to the oval line even though I had the 1/2" fade in set up. Any thoughts?

A picture and a file is worth a thousand words/guesses! :D

Picture added. What I'm saying is that the laser goes all the was to the dotted red line even though there's nothing to etch there, and it stops there for a few seconds before returning. It does this with each pass, and wastes a lot of time.

I believe the dotted line is the edge of your photo, so what else would tell the program to stop. It won't be able to stop on running across "nothing" within the fade.

You could possibly crop your photo closer to the fade to minimize that part.

As to the delay at that point, I don't believe I've seen that in mine.

There were discussions on the forum about the Nextwave PP, I don’t remember what the actual reported issues were but it boils down to the Laser add on does not have Nextwave listed as compatible hardware. If I remember correctly Nextwave stated to use their Ready to Raster program. You could search under the laser module forum if you care to see the prior conversations.

Thanks to all, I sent Vectric support an email and asked for an update on the Vectric/Next Wave issue.
