Re: 4th axis rouging issues
Update:
If I simple save this file to the normal Laguna post (Laguna IQ HHC mm) it runs perfectly in the flat, exactly the way it looks in preview. I change nothing. Someone out here must know what this means?
On the rotary post it roughs out perfect around any 3D models, then on open areas where it needs 360 degree rotations to clear the material it just make a straight line to the end of y.
grateful for all the help so far... almost there

Surly, you cannot be the only person with a Laguna that has tried to cut rotary projects. There has to be a fix somewhere.Fabnet2000 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 03, 2021 3:05 pmwell that didn't work...Its only been 40 years since I've written g-code...lol
I am truly stuck... Laguna says he can't edit the post and Vectric seems to have done all they can do..... Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Post is the responsibility of the machine maker? I may just need to find the right person at Laguna.

Re: 4th axis rouging issues
Just a passing thought. Are you using the same post processor for the flat cuts and the rotary cuts? They should be different.

Re: 4th axis rouging issues
No problem. But yes two different posts, both provided by Laguna. They last updated the post in 2018, but only the name and header. 2009 was the last real work on the post. So I figure it may be having an issue with VCarve 11?SteveNelson46 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 03, 2021 6:41 pmOops! I didn't read the previous post before I posted.

Re: 4th axis rouging issues
Let's try again to see if we can get the g-code. Can you attach the full g-code file here and not an excerpt? (You might have to rename it to have a .txt extension.)
This is so it can be run through a g-code simulator to see what's happening at the transition point.

Re: 4th axis rouging issues
I see no one has tried it yet... on a machine...I'm thinking it's the controller or VCarve 11 at this point... we'll see what they say this week.

Perhaps reach out to one of these two individuals to see if they were able to correct this condition.

In the meantime, I suspect if you were to change the raster angle to 90 in the roughing toolpath it would cut as desired.

Ladies and gentlemen we are in the presence of a stress reliever, trouble fixer, and possible genius! He may just be an average JoeBlow... but he fixed my problem for now!JoeBlow wrote: ↑Sun Sep 05, 2021 2:04 pmPerhaps reach out to one of these two individuals to see if they were able to correct this condition.

Thanks JoeBlow! The 90 degree raster idea fixed my issue. Simple "A" moves while "Y" does all the work, I'm good with that, at least I can make what I intended while Vectic and/or Laguna figure out whats going on.
As you can see from the pic, the roughing pass cut all the way around, clearing all the material.! yeah!
Thanks
take care and have a great holiday weekend!
