4th Axis question
So I just got my 4th axis setup, there is something I'm not quite grasping. From the documentation, and the graphics I think this might be a bug? So when choosing the orientation in the job setup it should be the X axis (my 4th axis is inline with X) and the Y wrap post processor. This configuration looks correct graphically however, I don't get the wrapped output pop up when I save the Gcode, and when I try running the file it cuts off in space. When I select Y for the orientation and the Y wrap post processor it cuts correctly but graphically it looks like the attached photo. Am I missing something here? TIA!

Re: 4th Axis question
Can you post the actual CRV file? That will save a lot of guesswork.
Which version of Vcarve are you running? Rotary has changed behavior between V9.0 and V11.0
What post processor are you selecting?
Recommendation: Z-zero on the center of the cylinder. It will save you a lot of problems when your blank is slightly out alignment or a different size compared to what you told the program.

Re: 4th Axis question
Both images show the stock being rotated around the x-axis. The help file emphasizes the axis that non-rotational moves will cut along—the x-axis—while the pop-up emphasizes that rotational moves will cut along the y-axis.

Re: 4th Axis question
I just attached the .crv file, I am on version 10.514, and I'm using a slightly modified Mach3 wrap processor. I actually have a Masso controller, so I modified the PP to wrap on "A" instead of "A-" (the image was coming out mirrored) and I changed it to output files with a .nc extension instead of .txt.Rcnewcomb wrote: ↑Sun Aug 01, 2021 4:57 pmCan you post the actual CRV file? Re: 4th Axis question
However, the file is currently setup Along Y, wrapping X values. So when choosing the orientation in the job setup it should be the X axis (my 4th axis is inline with X) and the Y wrap post processor.
I believe this is what you want. I've included the modified CRV file.

Re: 4th Axis question
The problem is when I select x it moves off into empty space. I am setting the origin in the center of the cylinder (just like in the V-carve file). Selecting Y it works as expected, but the graphics are incorrect. This will be an issue when I want to wrap something around the entire cylinder.

I don't understand this. Are you talking about within VCarve, or when you actually cut the design? The problem is when I select x it moves off into empty space.
Can you post a photo of your rotary setup with an indication of X and Y?
Have you done some basic test setups to help verify the CAM, post-processor, control software, and motors are all working together as expected?
Have you cut other things in the rotary that have worked as expected?
