How do I correct overlaps and intersections when I validate the vectors?

Use node edit mode to move or clip the lines. Or, delete bad section and redraw.

The Vector Validator is just that a tool for analyzing vectors prior to toolpath creation. It is up to you to correct the vector errors using the various tools provided prior to toolpath creation. If you don't fix the vectors before the toolpaths are created they will not perform as expected.

Sometimes you will need to zoom in to see small overlaps. Then use the node editor to remove nodes or cut and rejoin vectors. After each fix use the Validator tool to rescan the vectors for the next fix.

It can be tedious but gives great results in the end.

This worked, thanks.
Now I am trying to change the names on a project. I changed them one time now when I select the vectors(names) and try to change them it will not let me. What might I be doing wrong?

If you mean a text object then … once you convert that to vectors it can’t be edited. Always keep a copy of the original text in another, preferably locked, layer.

I downloaded this from Vectric site and wanted to make one for my grand children. I got to change the names one time but not now. also everything looks correct in the preview except the "m" in from will not carve. I hope the picture comes through and you understand what I am trying to do.
Thanks for your help.

You can change the names, as long as you leave them as 'TEXT'. These have been changed to 'curves'. I also don't see why the 'm' won't carve. Maybe some other sharp eyes can see the problem. You don't have to convert text to curves to Vcarve text. If you convert to curves, hide a copy of the original 'text' in an invisible layer. Hilight the text, then copy to new layer with 'visible & active unchecked.' Then you still have a copy to make changes to (and kern). I tried several other fonts with no problem. Something is definitely honked up with the 'm'. The easy way out is to re-create that line (and leave as text).

Something is amiss with the "m", it checks out OK in Vector Validator, but if you try and VCarve just the "m" you get an error. I went into node editing for the "m", made a cut at the starting node then used the Join Tool to rejoin the now open vector. Now the "m" will carve correctly.

It is true I have found that the Vector validator doesn't always catch everything but it is certainly a big help in finding impending issues Sometimes when all else fails you just either have to zoom in get a closer look at the vectors or delete and re-create.

It's an odd one. Just selecting another node as the start and doing nothing else fixes it. I'm guessing it's because of where the original start node is the calculation is getting confused. Never seen that before though.
