Re: svg files
Not sure what you mean by "online store files" but I use SVG files all the time with no issues. It's one of the best import/export formats to use as it fully supports layers and curves.

Re: svg files
I buy SVG vector files off of Etsy and other online sites often. It's a cheap way to jumpstart a project. I usually have to make small adjustments to the vectors. Also some SVG files are designed for laser or vinyl cutters which have much smaller cutting widths and not suitable to CNC milling.
The VCarve Vector Validator tool is your absolute best friend with online SVG files. Sometimes the vectors will will not be closed or have some other small issues. The Vector Validator tool will save you a bunch of time and hassle finding and fixing these issues.
This 24" door hanger started life as a 4" drink coaster SVG. I added the inner ring and letter artwork. My wife and many of our friends were thrilled with the result.

Re: svg files
I THINK Jerry is talking about this store??
https://svgonline.art/
And no, I don't think I've ever bought from them before, but maybe a while ago as I get emails?
IF I ever did buy from them...I can't remember anything about it

Re: svg files
I only cut outline/silhouette vectors. Never tried more complicated vector artwork like those.

Re: svg files
Hey Jerry,
Just took a few minutes to look through their critters, and found the cutest little baby racoon:)
https://svgonline.art/collections/animals?page=5
So I'll probably look through them some more tomorrow, and at least order the baby bandit.
Some looked suitable for standard VCarve, some for Zank style Vinlays,
and some for paint infill.
I'd never done paint infill believe it or not until before this last Christmas...
Got a LOT of help here from everybody, and did 3 test Lemurs..and a 3dWave .svg of a kitten. First thought on baby bandit was a dark walnut in Maple VInlay....but maybe a paint job one first.
If I run into anything funky while ordering, I'll let you know.

Re: svg files
I forgot some would be great with laser(because I don't have one:).
Paid with PayPal, no problems, immediate download as .rar files, unzipped with 7Zip,
imported vectors and immediately grouped....no overlaps or open vectors...carved out of the box. Saw one Wolf file, and remembered the Northern Desktop operator got a crib board order for local high school and used one of their .svgs, and because it was a company purchase, I got on their list.
Remembered after 6 yrs with the aid of a triple espresso...maybe I still have FOUR brain cells left?
Thanks Jerry!
Got 2 for maybe Christmas...with my workpace...I have to start thinking Christmas NOW!:)
Oh...also got an email with download links afterwards.

Re: svg files
Hey Scott,
What kind of toolpath and endmill are you using for these detailed SVGs? I thought laser would be good, too, but I don't have one either.

Re: svg files
Prices were good Jerry.
Best thing I could think of to do before the sun came up,
and clicking through until something Hit me before espresso was done and I was Human was Good!
I totally trust the preview and my machine, so may play with it and Tweak it, but they'll carve well.
Ken,
Barely had a chance to make sure vectors were good,
and no time to play now as I took on 100+ hours project;
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=37766&p=275432#p275432
AND have a friend from the Deep South (Massachusetts:) , probably making a visit Friday....
and shop and house are a MESS...
so doing my Headless Chicken act cleaning and prepping a blank so I can pretend to work when he's here.
Probably do something like the Lemur and Kitten ones in pic first.
Got all kinds of good advice here;
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=36145
And finally went with Michael's advice with acrylic paints and start depth with ZZinser.
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=36382&p=265829#p265829
Probably cut out of Maple "Ocooch scroll saw ready" 4X24X.25" stock I have leftover.
Christmas ornament sized and hole for ribbon/thread.
Either play with a "Rubber Band Boundary" like the ones above, or maybe an actual ornament; And VCarve into it, or just use the boundary vectors.
IF considering cut through, then probably Drillman1's 1/16"or 1/8" downcuts and maybe his 30 degree.
https://www.ebay.ca/sch/drillman1/m.htm ... pg=&_from=
(NOT his 30 degree "Sharp" the tips break...But love the non Sharp 30 degree)
My go-to for clean cuts and pocket bottoms are Onsrud Engraving bits with .005 and .01" flats.
Probably won't be drawing/cutting anything except the "Tinys" for quite a bit.
