2d Deer
I need a little help trying to cut a 2d deer.
I'm making a road sign for a friend.
The size I'm working with 16 x 16" just for the deer (Buck)
I tried to bitmap a sketch and vcarve , but my preview had lots of bird pecks.
Any tips or help would be much appreciated.

Re: 2d Deer
Can you share the file so others can look at it? First guess would be a lot of extra small vectors from your bit map trace, have you looked at the vectors in node editing?

This is what I have.
I'm hoping to have one stand out more.
Thanks

I looked at your sign in node editing mode and there are thousands of nodes (bird pecks) I know that they have a very nice set of deer files in the design and make shop you may check into those
I have carved a BUNCH of wildlife with those files and the bundle is very reasonable

Re: 2d Deer
Click on edit, then click on curve fit vectors.
This will reduce the number of nodes.

Thanks, I do see the Deer in design and make, But I want the Deer to be 2d so I can paint it like the vcarve lettering.Custom carving wrote: ↑Fri Jul 23, 2021 4:37 amI looked at your sign in node editing mode and there are thousands of nodes (bird pecks) I know that they have a very nice set of deer files in the design and make shop you may check into those

Re: 2d Deer
Okay I must be missing something here, I just looked at your file and the simulation looks good to me, I looked at the nodes in node editing and there are a few spots that could be cleaned up but I have seen a lot worse.
Here is the preview I see.
What am I missing that makes this bad ?

Re: 2d Deer
I'm with Scott - don't see any real issues with this. The bit isn't jumping up and down in my simulation.

Re: 2d Deer
I didn’t do the simulation but it might be helpful to do what Jan suggested to clean things up a little

There is one stray vector over the deer's back legs that could be deleted.

Re: 2d Deer
I cut one side of the sign today, with the Deer.
My letters ran deep and looked super, but the Deer pecked its way through the whole file.
Not sure what i did wrong... but it was plunge cutting through the whole job.
I need to carve the other side...and im thinking I may just use a profile tool path,
cut it about 3/8" deep
Anyway...appreciate the help guys...

Re: 2d Deer
Have you upgraded your software lately? Could your post processor have changed ? Have you looked at the gcode and verified it’s directing the Z up/down pecking and it’s not a machine issue. Sorry just throwing ideas out there!
