Rotary job- cutting below axis

Post by bryankubsch »

Does anyone know how to have vcarve cut below the central axis in a rotary job? Picture a crankshaft to be cut, clearly the central bit would reach and have access below the axis, however every time i generate the job, vcarve leaves wood from the central axis to the bottom lobe of the part. I've tried setting a negative zero plane (which seems the right thing logically) but nothing changes it.

Thanks in advance for any help or thoughts given.
Bryan

Vectric does not support cutting below the centerline on rotary jobs.

You could try doing it as a 2-sided job, or use Cut3D and try it as a 4-sided job.

You don't set center to the center of the crank shaft jourals. You have to set center to the center of the crank pins
Thanks,

That's a nice idea, thanks,
