There was a question on the Shopbot forum about clamping work for machining. This type of question is asked frequently. There are many ways to build clamps. This is a very important part of CNC woodworking. I would like to see a section on this forum devoted to clamping work.

Re: Clamping
I wouldn't. There are enough sub forums that people don't use properly as it is. Adding more just confuses things even more.

Re: Clamping
Every Project is Unique!!!
I have found that there are few instances where clamping repeats/is the same. Each project has its challenges! I have several different types of clamps I have made or collected over the years. Of course a vacuum table would be nice to have but I do not see the benefits versus the added expense.
You can always drop in here on the GENERAL forum anytime you have a unique situation and ask for comments/suggestions for clamping!
Just my opinions/thoughts!!!

Re: Clamping
Plus one on that Adrian. I belong to another forum that has so many sub-forums that it appears helter-skelter. It's very difficult and confusing to choose which one to post in. On the other hand, this one is very well organized and I like it just the way it is. Writing a good web site, or even just a webpage, requires experience and a good plan before starting and the Vectric programmers really know what they're doing.

Re: Clamping
I would have to +1 as well, while I agree with what Phil has said about clamping being a big part of CNC machining as far as I know the forum was created to cover aspects of the vectric software & there are plenty of other places you can go to ask general CNC questions
