Cut multiple node intersections at once

Post by siric »

Hi,

I have a pattern and I would like to Vcarve alternate pockets, but the vector is made up of overlapping circles. In order to create my pocket toolpaths, I would have to click on each intersection, cut the vectors and then click on the smaller sections to join them (shown in the attached photo). Problem is that they are maybe about 100 or so and doing it manually will just take too long. Is there any way to do this easier?

Old thread that discusses exporting the vectors as an EPS file. Converting that file to an image BMP file. Re-importing the image. Converting the bitmap (image) file to vectors.

The theory being that you'll get the pockets you want separated by very small space as the bitmap to vector function traces on "both sides of a line".

Thanks. Will give the methods mentioned a go.

Wouldn't an offset inward accomplish the same thing?

Theoretically an offset in both direction should do the job. Unfortunately Aspire seems to get a bit confused with the overlapping vectors, see example below. It does the offset for most vector segments but not all. OTOH, using the bit map would require very high resolution or the resulting vectors would become a bit jittery.
