Scrap Redwood
My neighbor was throwing away redwood 2x4s. I figured I'd see what was hiding inside them.

Re: Scrap Redwood
Nice carve Randall. With the high cost of lumber right now, I'm using up a lot of my old scrap material.

Re: Scrap Redwood
That is really really nice, as have been many of the other carves I've seen some of you "Wizards" display. I haven't ventured into this type of carving yet, but I'm getting ready to try. I'd appreciate a few sources where I could purchase from.

Re: Scrap Redwood
For VCarvePro,where only.V3M format is available, and we can sue as many models in that format in a project...vs 1 say .stl or obj. per project as an example...then D&M is the only place;

I would say I am surprised but I've seen enough of your posts now Randall to know that for you just about anything is possible.

Re: Scrap Redwood
Never underestimate the value of reclaimed wood. My neighbor tore off his old redwood deck to replace it with plastic. He was going to burn the boards. I couldn't haul them away fast enough. I'm sure a lot of it was old growth from the 70's. You just can't buy wood like that anymore. Fine Woodworking Garden Chair, April 2014. Lots and lots of resawing and bent laminations. Not much to talk about CNC except I did v-carve our name into the front to discourage them from walking away and disappearing some night. There's also a message on the underside for whoever ends up with these after me.

Re: Scrap Redwood
Now THAT is what ADDED VALUE is all about.
Take a $1.00 chunk of firewood and turn it into something valuable.

Re: Scrap Redwood
I know that Rush to Rescue feeling ISvien
Doesn't happen as much nowadays, but I used to snatch firewood about to be burned if
it was Curly,Birdseye,Quilted, and even heaven forbid burl!
Took some sweet talking and sometimes a promise of a finished object, but I usually got it:)
BEAUTIFUL save on the chairs, and Randall's Angel of a flower child !
