Hi,
When typing this text in I used the bold option. But it's not as thick as I would like. What is the best method about making this thicker. Any tips or tricks would be appreciated.
Thanks

You can convert to curves and then offset outward a bit. Note that you won't be able to text edit or kern after converting to curves.

I use commercial fonts a lot as I worked as a signmaker (cad cut vinyl & digital print) for many years, downside is they are not free but the upside is that I have never had any problems using them & generally speaking the font families are much larger meaning that you have more options than just standard bold & italic.Advantage of that is that you have more chance of finding a version with a broad enough stroke to work & then be able to leave it as text for editing.
Where that doesn't give me what I want then I use the offset option Mike has already mentioned
