No Clipart import on Linux mint
No Clipart import on Linux mint
Hi,
I have recently go to Linux Mint and installed V Carve pro Desktop under Wine, also the clipart.
When i try to import one of the figures there is a red circle with a slash, and there is noting to see on the work place.
When i try to load an older made file from my Windows computer then everything is ok.
My processor is Intel® CoreTM Quad Core i7-8550U / and my video card Intel® UHD Graphics 620
Thanks for help, Rien Netherlands

Re: No Clipart import on Linux mint
Are you dragging and dropping from a window or the clipart tab? Have you tried importing instead? If importing works then it's the handler for drag/drop not working correctly in Wine.
Re: No Clipart import on Linux mint
Both of them are not working, sometimes I see a one dimensional figure of the model on the underside of my work.
When I import work with a 3D figure all seems ok.

Re: No Clipart import on Linux mint
When I import the Flower model from the Vectric site it works fine, but from the Clipart it das not work. I have already try to install again, but with the same result.

Today I try to import a STL file, the same thing happened the whole 3D is compressed in a small stroke ( x) on the underside of my work
with the curve in the Z axis and line thin in the X axis.

Re: No Clipart import on Linux mint
Do you have a Windows PC available for use? From what you're saying now it's hard to say whether the issue is that you're using Wine under Linux or if you're not importing the model correctly.
It sounds to me as though the scale and rotation is different from what you're expecting. Both of which you adjust as part of the STL import process in VCarve.

Re: No Clipart import on Linux mint
Yes i have a pc with Windows and Vcarve, but when i load the STL file I see him compleet there before I use the scale and rotation menue. And when i try to import Clipart in linux I see the circle with slash in red, in windows the same figure but in black.
As I say when I import the STL the x axis seems normal, the Z axis seems normal, but the Y axis is zero.
Could it be something with the graphics card?
Anyway thanks for your thinking Adrian.

Re: No Clipart import on Linux mint
It is the same as in 2017 from JVWorley, but he has no problems now anymore.
The only difference is that I run Mint 20.1 and vcarve 10.5 with a Intel Corporation UHD Graphics 620
Intel Corporation Xeon E3-1200 v6/7th Gen Core Processor
Hoping some Linux guru can help me here.
I have installed Linux Mint, Installed Wine, Installed Vcarve Pro 10.5
VCarve seems to run fine except for one thing. When I drag and drop 3d clip art into the workspace it doesn't show up. The modeling tab says its there. I can edit the model but it doesn't show in the 2d or 3d view. The strange part is that I can load a file that was created under my old windows system and it works and appears just fine.
Any idea why it doesn't work with Linux created files?
Thanks in advance....

Re: No Clipart import on Linux mint
Watch I don't use vcARVE but aspire from version 8 (now I am at 10.5)) with wine on Linux Debian 32 and 64 bit and honestly I have no problem with clips art with the rest it works all perfectly, I can't find diversity with the one installed on Windows
Try you see if the path where the clips are installed is correct

Re: No Clipart import on Linux mint
Hi,
It is not only the import of the Clipart that give problems. When I import a STL file I can see the file, I can centrate the file in my work.
After clicking ok, all is grayed out, when i look in 3D tools, the imported file is mentioned, but when i go to the machining page, it say there is no 3D object. I have also a computer with Windows and there i have no problems with all this functions. I was really hoping to get rid of Microsoft, but until now that is not possible. All 2 D and V carving is working correct.

Re: No Clipart import on Linux mint
Perhaps it's time to post an image of what you see?
Re: No Clipart import on Linux mint
The first picture is after clicking OK There is no thickness any more. The second when I have centred the STL, before I have click OK.
in Windows, this is no problem.
Re: No Clipart import on Linux mint
HI. I run V-Carve Pro perfectly on Linux Mint 20.1 under wine. You do have to add a couple of libraries under wine config to get the 3d working properly. Check your wine config to make sure these libraries are installed. Particularly the **140** files. If not just select them from the dropdown, click on add and add them. Should work...
