How to measure 3D Objects?
I imported an .stl created in Sketchup into VCarvePro, and when I ran the 2 sided job the part was much thinner than I expected it to be. I opened VCarve to check it and I can't figure out how to measure the object? I can click on it and see the W and H, but not the thickness? I know I can see the thickness of the workpiece, but not the completed piece? Any way to do this?

In the " Measure/ Inspect" tool there is an option the draw a vector of the model cross section.
That will show the Z height of the 3D model.

Thanks for the response, but what am I missing? I still only see X and Y measurements? Thanks!

Did you right click on the points you want to measure?

Re: How to measure 3D Objects?
I saw a tip here on the forum recently which I have found invaluable. If you hold down the CTRL key and hover over the simulation image, the normal XY display in the lower right adds Z. This has saved me from your kind of problem on my current project.

Re: How to measure 3D Objects?
That tool creates a 2D cross section of the 3D shape between the two points you select so the vertical height of the 2D vector created (Y axis in this case) reflects the Z height of the 3D.FoothillFurniture wrote: ↑Sat Mar 20, 2021 3:59 amThanks for the response, but what am I missing? As Adrian said, the problem is on a two sided job it only does one side, you'll need to the cross section on both sides and add the results to get the full depth of the Component.
